How to Make a Waterless Hair Shampoo

Dry or waterless shampoo is a way to clean your hair when you can't or don't want to use water to wet the hair as part of the cleansing process. Dry shampoo comes in handy while camping, for those times when you must leave work directly for a social function or in the cases of those who are in the hospital or bedridden. It will remove oils and dirt from the hair, making it feel, look and smell clean.

Instructions

Grind a cup of oatmeal or bran into a powder. Alternatively you can use talc, cornmeal or almond meal.

Add a tablespoon of baking soda to the meal or powder.

Mix in a couple drops of essential oil, such as lavender or peppermint, for instance.

Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container.

Use between one and four teaspoons for a shampooing. One is for very short hair while four drops is for long hair.

Sprinkle on head and massage into scalp for a few minutes.

Brush the mixture out of your hair over a towel placed on the floor. This will minimize the mess.
