Saltwater hair mixtures, or mists, allow you to create beach-inspired waves without spending a lot of money on expensive styling products. Both cold and warm water can be used, although warm water is suggested because the salt will dissolve faster and more evenly in warm water. This project uses coconut scented conditioner to enhance the mist, but you can add any scent of your choosing.

Instructions

    1

Filter the water if you are not using bottled water. Filtered water will be healthier and smell better on your scalp, although any clean, fresh water will do. Mix 1 teaspoon of finely grounded sea salt and water together in a separate bowl, stirring well. The salt should be as dissolved as possible. Warm water will dissolve the salt better than cold water, but either can work for this project.

    2

Carefully pour the salted water into your spray bottle using a funnel if necessary. Add the1/2 teaspoon of coconut conditioner and 1/4 teaspoon of tea tree oil if applicable. You can vary the amount of salt, conditioner and oil according to personal preference or skin type.

    3

Close the top of the spray bottle and shake it vigorously until all contents are evenly dispersed. Shake it well each time before use since oil doesn't dissolve in water.
